Not coincidentally ... shortly after Mahāśivarātri we have an important event ...
The annular solar eclipse of the February 17, 2026 is an astronomical and astrological event of great global significance and with deep symbolic charge. It is a annular solar eclipse, and already this definition contains an important key to understanding its message.
An annular eclipse occurs when the Moon slides in front of the Sun, but it does not cover it completely. This happens because the Moon, in its orbital motion, is at such a distance from the Earth that it appears slightly smaller than the solar disk. The result is what is commonly called the “ring of fire”: The Sun remains visible as a bright circle around the dark silhouette of the Moon. There is no total darkness, but neither is there full light. It is a threshold, an intermediate, ambiguous, suspended condition, as if the sky itself were showing us an unresolved moment of transition.
From a symbolic point of view, the ring is one of the oldest signs of power, authority and legitimacy. People of power have always worn large rings, often with precious stones, as a visible sign of command, of access, of belonging to a decision-making center. The ring indicates who rules, who holds command, who has access to the heart of things.
In this eclipse, though, the ring is not firm on anyone's finger, but it appears in the sky, visible, disputed, glowing. No one possesses it, but everyone covets it ardently. This reveals to us the very strong power games that are pervasively acting globally. It tells us of global balances that are no longer stable, of roles that are about to be redistributed, of authority that is no longer recognized as unquestionable, but continually challenged.
I six months after the eclipse Will be crucial. We are at a moment in history when the balance of the world is being redefined. On one side is America, Europe, and the West; on the other side is the East, with China, India, Russia, and the Global South. Old alliances show obvious cracks, while new coalitions have now taken shape. Eclipses do not create these processes, but make them visible, accelerate them, bring them to maturity.
What we personally experience is always a product of our individual karma, but at the same time we have all embodied ourselves in this historical period to experience together a collective change. And we are at an incredible moment in history. Just think of all that we have seen and witnessed in these years of life on Earth: extremely rapid technological progress unprecedented in known history, at least four popes in the course of a single lifetime, a total globalization that has made us feel like citizens of the world, leading us toward a form of world unity never before experienced, or at least never recorded in accessible historical memory.
We are entering an era of transformation, but to enter it we must leave the old dress. As the Sun at the time of the Saṁkrānti, which first strips off the clothes of the sign it leaves to put on those of the sign it enters, humanity also now stands in this liminal space, naked, vulnerable, waiting for a new form.
And then the symbolic question becomes inevitable: Who will take the royal ring? Who will succeed in imposing themselves on the world's great chessboard? The next actions, diplomatic, economic, military and communicative, will all be geared toward gaining a position of supremacy. But, as every eclipse teaches, what appears as victory may hide a very high karmic price.

Astronomically speaking, the Moon will begin to cover the Sun creating the annular eclipse at the About 10:56 a.m., will become fully annular at the 12:42, will peak at the 13:11, and then return partial to the 13:41 and conclude around 15:27. The magnitude of the eclipse, or the fraction of the solar diameter covered by the Moon at the maximum time, will be 0.9815. This means that the Sun will be almost completely occulted, but not quite: a minimal difference, and for that very reason charged with symbolic significance.
The eclipse on February 17, 2026 will be visible overall from 15 states in the world. The actual annularity will be observable in the remote Antarctica and on the’Southern Ocean.

Here a more esoteric reflection arises. Antarctica becomes the place on Earth where the’power ring. Why is it right there? What is there in that area that this annular eclipse seems to indicate? A place outside the traditional political dynamics, seemingly neutral, but strategic, silent, extreme, still largely unknown.
Instead, the eclipse will be only partial in parts of southern Africa, in the far south of South America and over much of the Antarctic continent. It will therefore mainly touch the areas of the Global South, those that are finding new forces and new coalitions in relation to the East.
This geographical detail is also significant: it is not a “central” eclipse for the great masses, but acts as a underground force, far away, moving deep currents and redrawing the balance from beneath the surface.

Astrologically, the’Rahu/Ketu Eclipse Axis falls between Aquarius and Leo. Rahu is in Aquarium at home. Rahu is at home in Aquarius. This is an extremely significant position, because Aquarius is the sign of collective dynamics, global networks, technology, ideologies, the masses. Rahu, here, is in his natural environment: the foreign, the unconventional, the transnational. It is the subtle planet of the manipulation, deception and propaganda, and when it is strong it invites us to observe very carefully what is being said, shown, told.
This is even more evident considering the conjunction of Rahu with Mercury. Mercury is the planet of communication, language, data, information. It is a “sponge” planet, absorbing the energy with which it comes in contact. Together, Mercury and Rahu form the Karkotaka Yoga, snake communication: enveloping words, persuasive narratives, media used to manipulate, confuse and divert. Rahu and Mercury use all forms of communication to move the masses. These are not only coarse lies, but a sophistication of the message, ambiguities, half-truths, selected and distorted information.

Jupiter, however, does not stand idly by. It has a planetary aspect on Aquarius, the seat of the eclipse head, and attempts to bring clarity through knowledge, ethics, and discernment. Jupiter is in Twins, sign of Mercury, and also has an aspect on Mercury itself. This creates a Bhagavad Gītā Yoga, a combination indicating the wisdom that illuminates action, the study of sacred texts, and knowledge of the Self as a spiritual remedy. In the Vedic tradition, reading the Bhagavad Gītā in this planetary context is considered one of the most powerful remedies for getting through this period.

However, Rahu in turn has an aspect on Jupiter. This generates a very strong tension, a true symbolic battleground between knowledge and manipulation, between light and shadow. The mutual relationship between Jupiter and Rahu configures a Guru Chāṇḍāla Yoga, a subtle conflict between what drives and what deflects. It is an ancestral, perhaps primordial, conflict between what elevates and what degrades.
We are part of this scenario. We are not external and passive spectators. In our individuality, through our thoughts, words and actions, we can consciously choose to strengthen the side of Jupiter, bringing clarity, truth and meaning, or we can feed the shadow side. This reflects the eternal struggle between Deva and Asura, between luminous and obscuring forces, narrated not only in Vedic myths, but present in the imagination of every tradition and in human consciousness since time immemorial.

In the head of the eclipse, in the sign of the’Aquarium, along with Rahu, the Sun and the Moon, we also find. Mercury and Venus, both under the weight of the eclipse. It is natural for the Sun and Moon to be involved: this is precisely the technical definition of an eclipse. The presence of other planets, however, broadens and intensifies the meaning.
This extends the influence of the eclipse beyond the Aquarius/Leon axis, also involving the signs ruled by Mercury and Venus. For this reason, those with Ascendant, Moon or Sun at Aquarius, Leo, Gemini, Virgo, Taurus and Libra may feel more intensely the confounding effect of this eclipse, both personally and relationally.
Globally, Mercury represents communications, finance and work, while Venus indicates business, comfort, luxury and pleasures. These are rajasic planets, related to desire and movement. Rahu amplifies everything: desire becomes excess, gain becomes greed, pleasure becomes vice. The eclipse brings confusion, and Rahu introduces new “agendas 2026”, while Jupiter attempts to expose them and bring back a dharmic plan.
It is also important to note the presence of a Papa Kartari Yoga, a “scissor” caused by Mars and Saturn on the sign of Aquarius, the eclipse site. The synergistic combination of Mars and Saturn forms Yama Yoga. Yama is the deity who judges Dharma, remunerates karma, and directs souls to their next destination.

This perfectly describes the collective scenario: a climate of constant pressure, restriction, fear. The media insist on narratives of world war, impending crises, future blockades, environmental cataclysms. We are in a new cold war, more subtle, psychological, informational, which tends to immobilize and depress. Yama does not call for terror: calls for justice, Dharma, ethics, asks people to live by their own values. Nothing more.
That is why we have to start with ourselves. We are the ones who have to model our lives according to higher values and then “infect” society, instead of waiting for society to change first, complaining in the meantime.
When two planets form a Kartari on a house, they create Bandhana Yoga, the combination of the blockage. This Bandhana is also caused by Mars and Saturn and indicates constrictions in the eclipse head. But the astrological invitation is the opposite: free oneself inwardly, remembering that there is always a greater divine plan that transcends human maneuvering.
Manipulation is likely to continue to leverage fear, and in particular the fear of death, Yama's domain. Pandemic means fear of death. War means fear of death. Economic and ecological crises always speak, after all, of the same thing. But there is a secret to becoming free from fear, abhaya: letting go of control for a moment, raising your hands to the sky with confidence and surrendering yourself, if only for a moment, to that divine force that moves everything. It doesn't matter the name. It matters the experience. Try it to believe.

La Nakṣatra of the eclipse is Dhanisṭhā. Its deities are the Aṣṭa Vasu: Agni, Pṛthvī, Vāyu, Varuṇa, Dyauḥ, Sūrya, Candramas and Dhruva. Their powers fall within the domain of Śiva Naṭarāja, the supreme deity of this nakṣatra. Interesting that the ecclissi occurs shortly after Śiva's main holiday called Maha Śiva Ratri. After all, in the material world, everything is a dance of Śiva. Śiva holds up the material world, because the material energy is his bride Parvati. Dhanisṭhā, ruled by Mars, indicates activity, movement, action. Even in apparent chaos, there is a cosmic dance that follows deeper laws.
This eclipse asks not only to observe the world, but to observe us inside, to understand which ring we are trying to grasp and which one we are finally ready to let go of.
