During this period, one phrase resonates louder than the others: watch out for relationships, because all the knots come to a head.
This is not just a widespread feeling or an emotional impression. Heaven is really speaking this language, and it does so in intense, at times uncomfortable, but deeply transformative tones.
The first major frame of this moment is Jupiter retrograde, a transit that is decompensating our 5th cakra, that of communication and speech. When Jupiter recedes, inner truth demands space but often struggles to find the right way to be expressed. Words can come out distorted, held back, or too loaded with meaning. And since communication is the main bridge of relationships, this transit directly affects emotional, familial and sentimental relationships. It is an influence that will stay with us until the early months of next year and requires listening, patience and a great deal of responsibility in the way we speak and, above all, in the way we listen.
But now it is necessary to focus our gaze on Venus, the planet most involved in affairs of the heart. December, by its nature, is a delicate month: it is the time of family reunions, of close relationships, of ties that come knocking again, but also of higher emotional expectations. And it is precisely here that the heavens ask for presence.
Venus is a planet ofWater: governs the flow of emotions, love, pleasure, the need for connection. But when Water meets the Fire, something powerful and ambiguous happens. The water can boil, generating conflict and purification, or it can evaporate, leaving us drained, apathetic, as if emotions have suddenly withdrawn. This is exactly the climate that many relationships are going through.
From November 26, Venus entered the burning radius of the Sun, and will remain there until the February 16. This proximity to the Sun brings much warmth to relationships, but not a romantic, reassuring warmth: it is the warmth of conscience, of justice, of truth that can no longer be ignored. During this period it is easy to feel strongly the injustices, the imbalances, the unspoken accumulated over time.
Those who give too much may find that they have undone themselves.
Those who give too little can be made to face their responsibilities.
Those who have felt belittled or sidelined can finally find a voice to be heard.
And those in toxic relationships may sense, with sudden clarity, that it is time to leave and rebuild their lives.
The Sun's fire is not gentle, but it is purifying. If it does not destroy, it transforms. And if a relationship withstands this heat, it can emerge more authentic and stronger than before.
Venus is currently transiting in the Sidereal Scorpio, a deep and intense Water sign. In theory, Venus in a Water sign should feel at home. But Scorpio is not a soft water: it is a water of transformation and, at times, stagnation. It is ruled by Mars, planet of conflict, and by Ketu, planet of renunciation and detachment. Two energies that are not easily conducive to relational harmony. Here love becomes all-embracing, visceral, but also laden with unresolved tensions.
Venus is conjunct Mercury, and this is one of the elements that can help. Both are rajasic, dynamic, passionate planets, and Mercury does not suffer the Sun's combustion. This can promote dialogue and understanding, at least on the mental level. However, between the December 14 and 16, Venus is squeezed by a Kartari Yoga formed by the Moon and Mars in neighboring signs, simultaneously creating a Bandana Yoga and a Rudra Yoga.
Bandana Yoga makes one feel imprisoned in relationships, as if a door had been locked and the key thrown away.
Rudra Yoga brings tears, emotional pain, weeping that often arises from ancient accumulation.
It is important to remember: planetary transits create energy channels, but not everyone enters into it in the same way. It all depends on the period each person is going through and his or her natal chart. Transits do not overwrite individual karma, but they shape it, amplify it, bringing to the surface what already lives within us.
And here we come to the most sensitive point of this period, the one that makes this end of the year particularly sensitive, especially in the run-up to Christmas.
From December 17 to 22, 2025, Venus will enter the area of Gandanta, one of the most complex and subtle conditions in Vedic astrology. Gandanta literally means. "karmic knot": is the junction point between a Water and a Fire sign, between two opposing and enemy elements. It is an extreme transition, a kind of black hole at the energetic level, which can make it unstable, especially in areas where emotions, diplomacy, tact and affection are crucial.
This Gandanta takes place between two deeply different and irreconcilable nakṣatra: Jyeṣṭhā e Mūla.
In Jyeṣṭhā, "the Elder," the energy is focused on protecting, controlling, taking charge of others, as an older sibling would do in the absence of parents.
In Mūla, however, there is a radical drive for essential truth: one seeks the root of things, even at the cost of destroying what is inauthentic. Mūla can be fierce in relationships because it does not tolerate false compromises.
The December 20, Venus changes Sign, moving from the intense, secretive and introspective style of Scorpio to the more open, direct and demonstrative style of Sagittarius, a Fire Sign. This change can be destabilizing. You may realize that you have restricted yourself too much up to now and suddenly claim freedom, but this may deeply confuse your partner. Similarly, a close person may behave in a totally unexpected way, or you may feel attracted to someone outside your usual patterns.
In the first phase of Gandanta, from the Dec. 17 to 19, Venus receives support from Mercury and the Moon. It shares the Water element with the Moon, but the Moon is debilitated in Scorpio, bringing emotional instability and frustration. The Moon also crosses its Gandanta together with Venus, but this is a frequent occurrence: it happens at least three times a month and that is why the mind is, by its nature, unstable and changeable.
When Venus enters Sagittarius, however, the situation heats up further. The Gandanta is accompanied by planets of Fire, Mars and Sun, and from the fact that Sagittarius itself is a Fire Sign. Too much fire for a Water planet creates relational dynamics that demand great attention. Although Gandanta ends the December 22, the influence of fire will continue until the January 13, fully involving the holiday season, Christmas and New Year.
The conjunction between Mars and Venus is known as Mangalika Doṣa, sometimes also called Gandanta Yoga. It is a combination that brings conflict, tension and difficulties in relationships. Therefore, it is important to pay attention not only to words, but also to contexts. Mars can create confrontations, and in extreme cases even violent situations. Those who plan celebrations, travel or crowded contexts should always keep the security as a priority.
Creativity also changes direction with Venus in Sagittarius: it shifts to broader, philosophical and spiritual themes. It is the time of thesacred art, of a beauty that seeks meaning and truth. It is a good time to nurture the contemplative and detached side, but in the company of those who can truly understand you.
The most important advice now is this: Feel your emotions, but don't act on them right away. Become an observer first. Listen to your partner without judging his or her emotions, accept them, talk about them, discuss them. Don't feel obliged to adapt right away or make final decisions. Let this period pass. Now emotions make relationships very vulnerable, and it is not the right time to choose or to take definitive actions. Important choices should be made when we are clear-headed and centered, otherwise we risk basing them on negative emotions.
After the January 13, 2026, Venus will enter the Sidereal Capricorn, the Sign of Winter. The weather will change: less fire, more cold. Perhaps even too much. But after so much boiling, even the cold can help put things in order, to understand what survived because it was true, and what melted because it no longer was.
This heaven is not here to punish, but to reveal.
And relationships, now more than ever, are the mirror in which we are called to look at ourselves honestly.
