Three Retrograde Planets: the November 2025 sky and what it inwardly asks of us
There are times of the year when the sky seems to press a "pause" button, as if to invite us to look inward with more sincerity.
November 2025 will be one of these special moments.
For a few weeks-from November 11 to 28-three of the most important planets in Vedic Astrology will move in retrograde motion at the same time: Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn.
A rare event that touches three of our fundamental chakras: root, heart and throat. It is as if the foundation, emotions and communication are "released" all at once, ready to be re-read, transformed and understood.
But what does it really mean?
The mystery of the retrograde planets
In Vedic Astrology these planets are called Vakri Graha: "crooked" planets, deviating from their usual path. They are not weak - on the contrary, they become stronger, more intense, more extreme.
They take a rahuic tinge: they surprise, they flip, they exasperate.
Most importantly, they decompensate the element they rule, and thus the related chakra.
It is a subtle but powerful passage:
Planet Retrograde → Element → Chakra → inner state
And this is where we begin to sense changes within ourselves: new sensations, unexpected emotions, thoughts that come and go. They are not always pleasant, but they are often revealing.
Mercury Retrograde
November 9 - 29, 2025
Earth Element - 1st Chakra (Mūlādhāra)
Mercury holds up communication, logic and mental speed.
When he retrogrades, however, his oh-so-bright mind seems to stumble.
The effect is often immediate:
- we feel less rooted
- words flow poorly (too much, or too little)
- attention jumps
- practicality weakens
- communications - especially digital - become chaotic
It is a mercury that "uproots," because the Earth moves backward.
And without roots, thought also wanders without a center.
A deep need to communicate may emerge -- but without finding the right way. Or a need for silence, as if words need to relearn the way.
In these weeks everything practical calls for more calm, more patience, more listening.
Saturn Retrograde
July 13-November 28, 2025
Element Air - 4th Chakra (Anāhata)
Saturn retrograde has no half measures.
Air, which normally moves and sustains us, begins to sway: either too fast, or too still.
Thus Saturn can take us in two opposite directions:
- Working relentlessly, not listening to fatigue
- Or freeze, slow everything down, feel apathetic or melancholy
It is a movement back to the past: memories, regrets, suspended questions.
The heart (Anāhata) becomes more sensitive, more vulnerable.
Sometimes it opens for compassion, sometimes it closes for protection.
Saturn retrograde is an invitation to look inside ourselves honestly, without judgment.
Any rigidity that emerges is not an obstacle: it is a message.
Jupiter Retrograde
November 11, 2025 - beginning 2026
Ether Element - 5th Chakra (Viśuddha)
Jupiter is the planet of knowledge, ethics, wisdom.
When it moves backward, however, the Aether-the space in which everything expands-begins to vibrate differently.
And we are touched in depth:
- lots of knowledge, but little integrated
- advice given or received out of time
- Confused spirituality: too open or too closed
- idealism overcoming reality
- difficulty in expressing clearly what we feel
It is the throat chakra that is affected: the inner voice falters, our vision seems to change shape every few days.
Jupiter retrograde does not take away wisdom - it transforms it.
It asks us to distinguish between what we know and what we actually embody.
The sky of triple retrograde: a portal of transformation
From November 11 to 28, 2025, these three movements will overlap.
Root, heart and throat-our foundation, our sensibility, our expression-will all be in motion.
It is an intense process, but not a negative one:
This is a sky that realigns.
Retrogrades do not "punish": they reveal.
They show us what we have left behind, what we have avoided, what is ready to change.
And if we listen to them, they become extraordinary inner teachers.
How to live this period with awareness
No need for complex rituals-just presence.
- Rooted in the Earth: walk, breathe, slow down
- Listen to your heart without judgment
- Talk less, hear more
- Let the energies settle on their own
- Don't force important decisions
- Welcome what comes back from the past as a lesson, not a hindrance
It is a period of review, not action.
A "heavenly rearrangement" that sets the stage for what comes next.
How to rebalance yourself: the practice of the Bīja Mantras of the Chakras
When a retrograde planet decompresses a chakra, the most effective way to harmonize the element is to work directly on the chakra itself.
Bīja mantras are seed-sounds that have the power to quickly rebalance an energy center. They are pure, simple vibrations that bring back harmony through sound.
Here is how to practice them properly during this period:
1st Chakra - Mūlādhāra
Bīja mantra: LAM
Planet: Mercury
Element: Earth
How to practice it:
- Sit with an upright back.
- Bring the right hand to the lower abdomen/pube, at the root.
- Close your eyes.
- Inhale through the nose.
- On exhalation repeat slowly, "LAAAM" (the "A" is long, vibrate down).
Repeat 108 times or for 3-5 minutes.
Effect: Stability, presence, grounding, and clarity in decisions return.
4th Chakra - Anāhata
Bīja mantra: YAM
Planet: Saturn
Element: Air
How to practice it:
- Bring the left hand to the center of the chest, over the heart.
- Breathe slowly.
- Repeat softly, "YAAAAM" letting the sound vibrate in the rib cage.
Repeat 108 times or for 5 minutes.
Effect:
It balances emotions, dissolves rigidity, calms anxiety and opens the space for forgiveness.
5th Chakra - Viśuddha
Bīja mantra: HAM
Planet: Jupiter
Element: Ether
How to practice it:
- Bring the right hand to the throat, without pressing.
- Inhale.
- On exhalation he utters, "HAAAM."
Let the sound rise to the skull as a light, clean vibration.
Repeat 108 times or for 3-5 minutes.
Effect:
Clarity of expression, more sincere communication, clearer inner vision.
When to practice them?
Throughout the retrograde period, but in particular:
- In the morning, to start centered
- before important communications
- in moments of confusion
- Whenever you feel that "the energy moves too much"
You can recite them one at a time or all three in sequence:
LAM → YAM → HAM
It is a path from the root, through the heart and up to the throat.
A perfect alignment for the November 2025 sky.
Conclusion
Mercury, Saturn and Jupiter retrograde will guide us in a profound overhaul.
Root, Heart and Voice will return to dialogue with each other.
The bīja mantras are the simplest and most powerful practice to restore balance within a backward-moving sky.
With just a few minutes a day we can turn what seems like chaos into an extraordinary opportunity for evolution.
