I would like to share with you A reflection on knowledge and our approach to it, especially at a time like this when Mercury retrograde invites us to review and consolidate what we already know.

When we approach a profession, it is essential to be competent.

But how much is enough to feel comfortable?

There are people who possess a basic knowledge of the subject matter, but they apply it correctly and, with that knowledge, are able to help many people, operating at the level they are at with sincerity.

On the contrary, there are people who accumulate so many books, courses, webinars and trainings without ever putting them into practice, waiting until they feel completely ready before using their skills to help others.
That said, we have two distinct approaches to knowledge related to the Planets of Knowledge: Mercury (the eternal student) and Jupiter (the porfessor).

1) Mercury: the Rajas (passion, burning desires, obsessions).

Mercury approaches knowledge with greed. For these people, knowledge is something to conquer. But knowledge being vast, this becomes a endless ride. Every time a new concept is learned, knowledge seems to slip away again. During this rush, Mercury focuses on what he does not know, neglecting to recognize, consolidate and practice what he already knows. One is fatally drawn to the news, sometimes up to theobsession. Thus, despite studying deeply and passionately, knowledge is likely to remain superficial because we do not give ourselves time to practice and assimilate what we already know.

It seems that Mercury sometimes behaves like Rahu., obsessing over wanting to know more and more and creating fears of never being enough. Obsessions and fears are indicated by Rahu, and Mercury declines them in the area of knowledge and information.

How come Mercury has this nature?

Let's review the basics of Vedic Astrology. In fact, nn the Mercury-ruled Signs, Rahu is at his best. Twins is Rahu's sign of exaltation, while Virgin Is its Mulatrikona (officium). This correlation, gives Mercury some of Rahu's "effects," making it a Saumya (benevolent) but also Papa (prompting sometimes disharmonious actions) planet. I discuss this in detail in my courses, here you find only a hint.

In addition, Virgo is the Sign of Mercury in which. Venus goes into debilitation. In this contention, Venus represents the pleasure of study. When Mercury becomes obsessed, all the pleasure of study passes, and the process of knowing becomes a great frustration. This approach keeps us on the surface.

2) Jupiter: the Sattva (foresight, clarity, planning, ).

Jupiter manages his quest for knowledge with humility. Although Jupiter may become a long-term professor, he approaches knowledge with folded hands, humble and small before his immensity.

He sees knowledge as a gift, a grace, a blessing to be received and then given, not as something to be exploited.

Jupiter is a student who takes the time to go back, refresh topics, review details, and review. Thus he studies by going at a pace that is dictated by the knowledge itself. Not only that, Jupiter is aware of what he knows and is eager to put his knowledge into practice.

In the Signs of Jupiter, on the other hand, it is Ketu predominating. In Sagittarius Ketu is in exaltation, while in Fish Ketu is in Mulatrikona (office). Interestingly, Ketu is the planet of liberation. Parasara tells us that Ketu represents theAvatara Matsya, Visnu taking the form of a fish. While the Sign of Pisces represents just the ocean, where the little fish swims. Thus we should pose to knowledge as a little fish swimming in the happy ocean. The little fish though small compared to the ocean, can navigate its depths.

Similarly, Pisces is the Sign of exaltation of Venus. Thus those who approach knowledge with proper humility truly benefit and take pleasure from their study.
