We live in the world of image...

who you really are is different from who you think you are and, most importantly, how others see you!

Discover a very important aspect of your Chart called Aruḍha, which indicates how others see you. Others do not see you as you are, but through their perception of you.

History of the Moth

As I was looking at this wonderful moth in India...

I immediately thought of a fantastic analogy to explain the difference between two fundamental astrological concepts:

⭐ Lagna (the Vedic ascendant)

⭐ Arudha Lagna (the image of the ascendant).

Vedic Ascendant indicates who you "really are"

The Astrological chart as seen from the Vedic Ascendant (Lagna) indicates who you are, what your character is, how deep your inner self is, and shows you the sum of your karma.

It indicates who you 'really' are.

Of course, the truly with a capital 'V' is that you are an eternal, divine and sacred being.

The ascendant does not indicate this, but rather indicates the nature of the body and mind you are wearing in this life, and with which you will have to deal until your last breath.

It indicates what your talents are, how your mind is structured, what your obstacles are, and so on.

The Ascendant is on the plane of material truth.

House 1 e House 7 are connected to Satyam, to what is true.

How do you see others?

The reality we see every day is conditioned by our subjective perception.

On the level of perception you see others as you perceive them and not as they are.

Do you not see the truth...

...But you see the projection of truth on the plane of your mind.

If you feel sympathy toward a person you will view his or her actions through the lens of appreciation.

If, on the other hand, you dislike a person you will view his or her actions through the lens of distrust.

See others from the perspective of your own mind.

In the natal chart this is seen by studying the planets from the perspective of the Bāva Lagna That indicates how your mind perceives the world.

 That perception is your reality.

How do others see you?

The bad news is that the same is true for you.

Others see you as they perceive you and not for who you are.

They see your projection on their mind.

Just as our bodies and psyches are the result of our past actions, according to the law of karma, how others perceive us is part of our karma.

3 Karmic aspects related to image

There are three facets related to our image:

➡ Who we really are,

➡ How we see the world through the eyes of the mind and

➡ How others see us.

These three aspects represent 3 different types of Karma, which are seen in the Astrological Chart from three different points of reference:

"One, no one and a hundred thousand," Pirandello would say.

These three aspects represent 3 different types of Karma, which in the Astrological Chart are seen from three different points of reference:

The world is based on perception

The world functions according to the paradigm of perception and not reality.

A famous singer or musician can be abysmally poorer technically than an unknown singer.

Why?

A matter of perception.

A malicious politician may be voted in because his image inspires confidence.

Still perception.

In this world, people who look like something are often more successful than people who are something.

Astrologically, this perception is called Aruḍha, image or projection.

The Aruḍha indicates how others perceive us and our talents.

Interpreting the calculation of the Aruḍha

The first thing you can do is to compare the result of your Signs:

➡ How you are (look at your Vedic Ascendant)

➡ How others see you (Look at your Ascendant Image)

By definition. these two Signs are always different from each other.

I know this can be a difficult concept to digest....

This is an important life lesson:

How others see you NEVER COINCIDES with how you really are!

But if the two Signs are in trine with each other, the image though different will be harmonious with who you really are.

Compare the two Signs with the meaning below:

♈ MEṢA, Aries: energetic, impulsive, enthusiastic, courageous, outspoken, resourceful and capable, ready to react, courageous, quick, rational though not cold, self-reliant, ambitious and self-confident, independent, reacts to restrictions or interference; emotional and generous, zealous and ascribable to groups; prone to accidents and mistakes due to impulsiveness, tendency to dominate.

♉ VṚṢABHA, Taurus: Artistic, skillful, beautiful, melodious, elegant, cool and posed, firm, determined (rather stubborn) and harmonious. Very practical especially in evaluating people, projects and ideas. Industrious, self-centered. Cold hatred, passionate and inclination to flattery are the defects.

♊ MITHUNA, Gemini: Intellectual, active mind, flexible, writing ability, rational mind, fluent in writing/speaking, very understanding and adaptable, changeable, indecisive, low self-esteem. Nervous, excessive worry and irritation are other weaknesses. Kind, humane and lively nature, prone to excess, lack of continuity or willfulness. Language and scientific skills are a marked characteristic.

Resilience, dignity and persistence are other positive characteristics of Scorpio. Weaknesses are anger, criticism and sarcasm. Mysticism and secrecy make them good astrologers and occultists.

♐ DHANUS, Sagittarius: Honorable, broad-minded, frank, generous, understanding, sincere and fair. Dignified and clean, life and surroundings are generally well-ordered and beautiful. The Lesson of the Moth

Back to our moth.

He is a delicate moth; this is his true nature.

This is the Vedic Ascendant.

But in its back is drawn a more frightening figure.

He has two eyes and a big mouth.

This design is made to scare off a possible predator.

This is the Aruḍha.

Although it is a fragile moth, to other insects it will appear as a terrible monster.

But it is only an illusion.

Is truth or illusion more important to you?
