The 5 elements and the 5 organs of perception are closely related in Vedic Astrology.
The First House is the skin, the Second is the eyes, the Third is the ears, the Fourth is the nose, and the Fifth is the tongue.
From the First House I see the nature of the skin, from the Second House the beauty of the eyes, and so on.
These 5 Houses are connected to the 5 elements.
In particular, the 1st House is Vāyu, air. The air element is connected to Saturn. In fact we can feel, with our sense of touch, the air caressing our skin.
And clearly decompensated Vāyu tends to make the skin dry.
Saturn also holds the oils.
Therefore putting oils on the skin is a perfect remedy to rebalance it from the depth of the element that holds it.
The Dharma of the skin is to touch. Dharma (duty) is seen from House 9. Thus House 9 represents touch. Touch gives security and helps balance Vāyu. It takes away anxiety, relaxes and calms the person.
This is why Ayurveda recommends massage with oils.
